Check out some of our favorite courses we've played across the Carolina's, as well as courses recommended to us by our followers.
There isn't a course that's been more influential in our journey than Tobacco Road Golf Club.
We played it for the very first time in the June of 2021 and it sparked our curiosity to see what else the Carolina's have to offer. We often tell people that it gives us the same feeling as a little kid going to Disney World and we've had people tell us that waiting for their tee time is like a kid waiting for Christmas.
It truly is a unique experience and is worth the trip, it's not far from the Pinehurst/Southern Pines area so Tobacco Road is often included in golf trip packages offered in those areas. If you get the chance to go play Tobacco Road, it is not an opportunity you want to pass up.
When people ask us for a hidden gem in the Carolina's, the first course we think of is Nags Head Golf Links.
It is a beautiful course that deserves far more recognition. Located in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, along the Roanoke Sound, it doesn't get more scenic than Nags Head Golf Links.
On a calm day it is one of the most peaceful rounds, but when the wind picks up, the course is no joke, playing much longer than the scorecard indicates.
It's hard to beat a Donald Ross golf course in the Pinehurst/Southern Pines area.
In September of 2021, SPGC was reopened after being restored by Kyle Franz, who also restored Mid Pines and Pine Needles.
The beautiful thing about SPGC is its elevation changes, which feel more dramatic than most other courses in the area, giving it a unique feel.
It's a must play if you've never been, and a course we are itching to get back to.
This won't be the last Mike Strantz course that we include on this page.
Mike Strantz's creativity in his golf course designs are something we just feel drawn to.
They spark something inside us that we just admire. Much like Tobacco Road, True Blue is filled with visual intimidation. It is a course that has wide forgiving fairways but often times pins are hidden by the mounds that add just a half second of hesitation before you take your swing.
Located on the south end of the Golf Capital of the world, there just isn't many better places for a golf trip.
Pinehurst No. 4 isn't a hidden gem by any means but it is one of our personal favorite golf courses in the Carolina's.
No. 2 gets talked about the most and rightly so with all its history and hosting the most recent U.S. Open but we've heard from many different people that they actually like No. 4 more than No. 2 when it comes to playing.
It is such a pure golf course and will truly test your abilities but offers so much beauty as well.
There are various spots on the course where you can see nearly half the holes or more and it just gives you half a second to soak it all in.
Tidewater Golf Club is a beautiful course that flows throughout the coast and marsh of North Myrtle Beach and is one of the longest in the area.
It's not often you find a course this close to the ocean that can stretch over 7,000 yards so Tidewater can offer a tough test of golf especially when the wind picks up.
There isn't a golf course we have talked about, thought about, or recommended more than Tot Hill Farm.
No surprise that another Mike Strantz course shows up in our favorites. Tot Hill Farm is a unique foothills course that features all of the crazy undulations and green complexes similar to what you see at Tobacco Road and True Blue but with elevation changes. Making it truly a one of a kind course here in the Carolinas.
